About Keir Starmer
Keir Starmer became the 58th Prime Minister on 5 July 2024. He is the MP for Holborn and St Pancras and was first elected in 2015.
Before becoming an MP, he was a barrister specialising in human rights, receiving a knighthood in 2014 for his services to criminal justice, and he was Director of Public Prosecutions (2008-13). He studied law at Leeds University and Oxford University.
Keir Starmer married Victoria Alexander in 2007 and they have one son and one daughter.
